Hi,

This is a totally cool problem.
I want to simply the problem into smaller problems. Is it possible to do
this, one pattern at a time ?

I think we are looking for patterns separated by gg+. So should we simply

@patterns = split /gg+/, $dna

We can now iterate through @patterns, find the 51st occurrence of "agct"
etc.

Is this what you were looking for ?
