Anyone want to replace me as "course technology specialist" at OSU? It
pays about $32K/yr, full-time A&P position, and it's 50% in polisci and 50%
in economics department with time, resources and all split in
half. Basically, the job is about putting up course web pages or helping
instructors get their courses online with WebCT. To administrate WebCT,
etc. Custom scripts and programs to automate some tasks are encouraged and
it's a low-stress job. A few hours a week are absorbed by helping people
with their web pages and stuff. And then you get the rest of the time to
screw around with apache, mod_perl or whatever you want. I usually spend
time researching new web technologies and playing with all sorts of
things. I learned CGI.pm pretty well here. Both econ and polisci have Sun
servers. If you are interested in it, email me and I will see if I can
find out when it will be posted. Since it's low pay, it usually attracts
undergrads, but it's a nice job. The job is pretty much self-manageable
and all that.

I start a new position as a unix admin on 2.21.2000.
