Message-ID: <44D2ED0AC0121146BF01366481060EBE0736C0FE@umc-mail02.missouri.edu> Yet Another Perl Conference (YAPC) will be held in St Louis this year, hosted by the St Louis Perl Mongers. See the following URL for further information: http://yapc.org/America/ This conference has been around a few years, and is a low-cost alternative to the O'Reilly Perl Conference, also held on an annual basis. Many of the 'big names' attend YAPC, including Mark-Jason Dominus, Nat Torkington, Damian Conway, Randal Schwartz, and others. -------- Denis Hancock, Database Administrator Maize Genome Database 213 Curtis Hall, University of Missouri Columbia MO 65211 (573) 882-1722 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Most of my perl hacking has been in support of stimulus construction and data collection/analysis of psychology experiments. (I'm in the Psychology Department at Mizzou, so this does make sense. :-)) I was one of Damian Conway's sponsors last year, and I just donated again this year. Any word on whether he will be one of the speakers at YAPC this June? jking From HancockDC at missouri.edu Fri Feb 22 15:18:26 2002 From: HancockDC at missouri.edu (Hancock Jr, Denis C.) I have an 8:40AM class at Mizzou in the summer, so I may not stay in the Wash U dorms at night, but I'll be going. -- Curtis Jewell http://www.curtisjewell.com/ curtis@curtisjewell.com http://curtis.livejournal.com/ curtis@livejournal.com http://new-york.utica.mission.net/ cjewell@mission.net From HancockDC at missouri.edu Fri Feb 22 15:34:50 2002 From: HancockDC at missouri.edu (Hancock Jr, Denis C.) Message-ID: <44D2ED0AC0121146BF01366481060EBE0736C142@umc-mail02.missouri.edu> Well, he was there last year, according to the web site, and being as how YAS is a major sponsor, I would expect him to be there this year. I saw him three weeks ago in Tucson for the Bioinformatics Conference, and he was well worth the price of admission. (it was an O'Reilly conference, so it was fairly pricy. I also noticed the Larry Wall gave the welcome address last year. I have been programming in perl since 1994, and nearly all of it has been in support of the Maize Genome Database in one way or another. I parse date files, write cgi scripts, fix web pages, and so forth. My favorite modules are CGI and DBD::Sybase. After having heard Conway speak last month, I may just have to take a look at Parse::RecDescent as well. -------- Denis Hancock, Database Administrator Maize Genome Database 213 Curtis Hall, University of Missouri Columbia MO 65211 (573) 882-1722 > -----Original Message----- > From: King, Jonathan W. > Sent: Friday, February 22, 2002 3:14 PM > To: columbia-pm-list@pm.org > Subject: I just joined this list... > > > > ...in response to Denis Hancock's invitation printed on the > mlug list. > > By way of background, I've been a perl programmer since > 1991.
