Please respond to the list and let's get some conversation going. cheers, -Darrell From pmclanahan at gmail.com Sun Sep 14 08:30:15 2008 From: pmclanahan at gmail.com (Paul McLanahan) Date: Sun, 14 Sep 2008 09:30:15 -0600 Subject: [Classiccity-pm] Hello. Please respond to the list and I'm on the list. I'm not in the Classic City nor am I doing a lot of perl, but hey, I like to talk :) -n -- From darrell at golliher.net Sun Sep 14 08:46:43 2008 From: darrell at golliher.net (Darrell Golliher) Date: Sun, 14 Sep 2008 11:46:43 -0400 Subject: [Classiccity-pm] Hello. My latest hacking has been using POE to write an IRC bot that listens on UDP for events from our ticketing system and broadcasts certain notices to our team IRC channel. It took me *years* of perl osmosis before the light finally went on for me with POE, but now that it has, I'm digging it. I think my next hack might be to try and get some alerts going out over XMPP. The area that I feel compelled to learn more about is Perl testing-- especially the idea of running continuous smoke testing against our SVN code base. Someday.. maybe.. I'll get around to that. -Darrell From pkeck at uga.edu Sun Sep 14 11:30:41 2008 From: pkeck at uga.edu (Paul Keck) Date: Sun, 14 Sep 2008 14:30:41 -0400 Subject: [Classiccity-pm] Hello. I am still in Athens and still occasionally writing some perl, but like Darrell am more likely to hire someone to do it. There has been a bump of activity on the local Linux list, so maybe some more perl interest could be drummed ip there. I have stagnated a bit though- I had to google "POE perl" to figure out what Darrell was talking about. These days that means Power Over Ethernet to this NOC person. :-) -- Paul Keck pkeck at uga.edu University of Georgia EITS Network Operations mailto:pkeck at ediacara.org --Opinions mine.-- Go fighting anomalocaridids!!! Perl is still my day-to-day language, though of course in this day and age I find myself spending time in javascript land as well. - Stephen Darrell Golliher wrote: > > The Atlanta.pm group has been quite active lately and Stephen Cristol > the Atlanta Camel Herder has contacted me about cross promoting > ClassicCity.pm and Atlanta.pm.
