Hi Chicago PMers,

My lightning talk was just approved and I don't have anything
prepared, so I was wondering whether any Perl guys would mind
spending a little bit of their time this weekend being an
interviewer in a filmed interview about the subject of the talk,
the FRDCSA (http://frdcsa.org) ?  The location in
flexible (Chicagoland), but it will be lit and shot to a
professional standard by a film student.  I will be in business
casual.

Awesome!

I can get the time (most likely Saturday) to you in a little bit when
I hear back from the filmmaker about his availability tomorrow.
Please call my cell at 630 414 1131 to give me your number so I can
call you when he gets back to me.  If he has this gig tomorrow, then
we'll shoot Sunday.  The duration he warned could be as long as four
hours (1 hour for setup, 2 for filming, and 1 for closing), but you
would only need to be there for filming.  As for a location, we don't
really know Bartlett.  It would need to be somewhere indoors with
ample space, that's quiet, that we could secure for the time.  We have
certain locations in Aurora and Naperville if you don't mind the
drive.  I could pick you up.

airline ticket prices are in the $450 range, which sucks, but it's
only an eight hour drive.  If three more people want to go and will
split the gas bill, then I'll investigate couching in Toronto and see
if we can make it a trip by car.  I think that you have to have a
passport to get to Canada now, so if you don't have one, you are
probably out of luck.

My understanding (IANAL or anything like it) is that if you're traveling by 
land the passport requirement doesn't come into play until July of 2009. As 
of now I think a driver's license or state ID will still do you.

I had sent this message out in the afternoon yesterday, and apparently 
something happened so I didn't see it until well after 6 pm.  So, am I
right in assuming that no one met Tuesday?

I'd still be up for a social gathering, if anyone's interested. (At the 
lightning talks I almost saw the Full Ingy.  Like Perseus, I averted my

I wouldn't mind heading out for a social, but I'd prefer the near north side
(Elephant and Castle, or maybe the Map Room in Wicker Park).  otherwise,

The Pittsburgh Perl Mongers are hard at work planning this years
Pittsburgh Perl Workshop. (We are also planing YAPC::NA 09 but more on
that later. But go ahead and mark your calendars for June 22 through
Wednesday, June 24, 2009). Mark your calendars this years PPW will be
October 11th and 12th 2008.

At this year YAPC::NA I was surprised at how much was going on before
and after YAPC. So if you plan on coming to PPW and would like to have
a hack-a-thon or something before or after the official PPW event and
would like some help planing that let us know and we will do what we
can.

PPW09 will have more training, more fun, and more talks than every
before but if you think we might be missing something send us a note
about it and maybe we can make it happen. We can not make everyone's
wishes come true but we would like to try.

This year we are going to be offering a speaker mentor program. This
