You're talking about some sort of a state machine library as opposed
to a flowcharting program, right? They seem to be lacking. POE is
probably the best bet.
If you want to be bleeding edge, Basset::Machine is a state machine.
http://www.bassetsoftware.com/perl/basset/ Easy to use and works
fairly well, but it's not documented yet.
On my to-do list.
