(March Perl Mongers Meeting) Message-ID: <20070312195130.GM20068@knowmad.com> Hello Charlotte Perl Mongers, It's been a long time since our last meeting. With Spring in the air, I think it's a perfect time to revive the Charlotte Perl Mongers. Let's get ourselves back on track with monthly meetings starting this week. Our standard meeting day has been the 3rd Thursday of the month. That's this week! I think the first order of business is checking in with everyone (we have over 50 members who I'm sure have been doing some cool stuff in the interim) and then coming up with a schedule for the next several months. We'll meet at the office of Knowmad Technologies on Central Ave near uptown. See the Charlotte PM website[1] for directions. If you know that you'll be attending, send an email to william at knowmad.com. If you can't join us this month, put us on your calendar for April 19th. See you at the meeting, William McKee [1] http://charlotte.pm.org -- Knowmad Technologies W: http://www.knowmad.com P: 704.343.9330 From jim1138 at gmail.com Thu Mar 15 11:54:11 2007 From: jim1138 at gmail.com (Jim Herring) Date: Thu, 15 Mar 2007 14:54:11 -0400 Subject: [Charlotte.PM] Let's have a meeting! Or if you're expertly familiar with a language, to compare between solutions to problems in your language vs. Perl! The following languages are being worked on, and the cool ones of Ruby, Python, Haskell are all between 20% - 80% complete! python groovy ruby guile tcl php rexx ocaml pike merd ada haskell java cposix pliant commonlisp c++ smalltalk forth erlang R masd nasm Cheers, Mike From michael.walker at napkindrawing.com Mon Mar 19 07:46:11 2007 From: michael.walker at napkindrawing.com (Michael Walker) Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2007 07:46:11 -0700 Subject: [Charlotte.PM] Sudoku By Regex Message-ID: <1174315571.45fea2330d7c6@www.kattare.com> Hi All, Here's a fabulous presentation by Abigail given to the London Perl Workshop last December, on solving Sudoku problems using a single Perl Regular Expression. This is an excellent example of stating the terms of a problem clearly, defining the needs of a solution, and implementing the solution. http://perl.abigail.be/Talks/Sudoku/HTML/title.html Cheers, Mike P.S. We need ideas for doing comparisons and champions of other languages to present the non-Perl solution. If you have any ideas or additions, send an email to the list and let's discuss it. We are also in need of either a projector that we can borrow for the evenings or a meeting space with a projector. If you have access to either of these resources, please let me know. We'll be glad to offer advertising or a link-back from our website[1] in return. Hope to see you at an upcoming meeting.
