From diona at studio12a.com Sun Jul 1 12:44:18 2007 From: diona at studio12a.com (Diona Kidd) Date: Sun, 1 Jul 2007 15:44:18 -0400 Subject: [Charlotte.PM] Charlotte.pm website Message-ID: <989A51B5-C92B-4C7C-8764-A9F7DFFE8FAB@studio12a.com> Hi all, Inspired by YAPC and group suggestions, I've spun up a website idea for Charlotte.pm [1]. It's not public. I'd like to get feedback from the group and any/all contribution help before moving forward. You can register [2] for the website to make comments. If you can contribute, I can upgrade your account after you register. If we decide everyone like the site and we want to move forward, I'd like to get as much content as we can before launch. Btw, I added an event plugin for our meetings, a book review plugin for the library and a 'subscribe to comments' plugin to alert users of comments on a post they have commented on... I'll volunteer to maintain the website. Thoughts? Looks awesome! Thanks for taking the time to put it together. FYI, the Join link is not working. I hear that you have one volunteer to add content. Any other takers? Let's review it at our July social (we'll need a place with wireless) and then take it live. Or we could go ahead and take it live then review. This is far better than what I cobbled together three years ago. Cheers! You can register by visiting the 'join' link. Member's are welcome to contribute. Just ping me for an account upgrade. Last night's meeting was very productive. William and I thought it would be good to share the discussion with the group and Kurt was kind enough to send notes. Here's the overview of results from the planning meeting. 1) we only have 4 formal technical meetings a year, at least for now until the group gets bigger. 2) We try to get biz journals to be our main business sponsor, having our four formal/technical meetings there a year. 3) We get one or two recruiters that are beneficial and socially compatible to the group to buy the snacks and drinks for these meetings. In return they can come, hand out business cards meet people, post jobs to our website etc. These same recruiters are also welcome to come to any informal social gatherings we might have. 4) We don't ask any money from the recruiters and we ask them to in turn not give out our phone numbers to other recruiters. 5) We also discussed having speakers come to Charlotte. We need to do more research on this topic. 6) William is going to respond to Raleigh.pm offering our help for the YAPC::NA bid for 2008. We'll find out from that what we need to do to help.
