[Canberra-pm] PM census & meeting next week?

G'day folk,

The next Perl Mongers census is going to happen very soon now ( as announced by
davorg http://use.perl.org/~davorg/journal/36252 ) and at this stage it seems
likely that Canberra will fall off the list.  Your PM Group leader, Jeremy
Price, hasn't been responding to email for a while, and his currently registered
address with pm.org ( http://www.pm.org/groups/537.html ) is bouncing.

So I'd like to propose you meet and discuss whether there is currently a desire
for Canberra PM.  As a bonus Paul Fenwick is in town next week (Tuesday -
Friday) and would no doubt be delighted to catch up with you on the Tues, Wed or
Thursday evenings).  If we can arrange a venue, he may even be convinced to give
a presentation.

Should you feel sufficiently motivated to become the new Canberra PM leader,
speak up and I'll be happy to help you.  You can find most of what you need in
http://groups.pm.org/faq.html  Being the leader does not require that you run
monthly meetings etc, although I encourage you to think about at least 1 per
year.  ;)  You also manage the mailing list dealing with spam and other issues
caught by mailman.

On the other hand, if you think that Canberra's Perl meeting needs are
adequately covered by CLUG and the CLUG PSIG, plus the other programming user
groups ( CJUG, .NET and ACTCFUG ) then all is well.  :)

I'll talk to Looking Glass who are providing our facilities next week and see
whether they'd be willing to host a meeting.  If you have a strong preference
for a weeknight, let me know and I'll take that into account.  If noone (or next
to noone) responds at all, then I'll assume the list is dead and not arrange
anything, so please respond and say something!
