I came across this site from Perl.com that is an interview with the author of
the slim server, and goes into such things as why he choose to write the server
in Perl, etc. It's a neat read, and titled:

For those of you who weren't there tonight (yes, you know who you are) we
discussed for a little while about Slim Server/Slim Devices and Perl's role in
it - and possibly playing around with it in the future. If you don't know what
