[Brisbane-pm] Conference promotion email to this list

Hi Brisbane Perl Mongers,
I'm the list administrator for brisbane-pm at pm.org.
As a general practice, I've been allowing mail to this list promoting
relevant conferences such as OSDC and Ruxcon. This is usually manual -
even if I whitelist the promoters, their bulk email practices usually
trigger some other rule that forces the mail to require approval
anyway. That's a roundabout way of saying I have some ongoing
visibility of this and therefore (usually) will think about it before
hitting "Accept".
It occurs to me that while I see this as a value-add for the list
(there is, after all, negligible other traffic at this time), others
may see it as spam. Does anyone have strong feelings either way?
I notice that these emails seem to get classified as "Promotions" in
the new gmail anyhow, so perhaps even if people aren't interested it's
unlikely to be that much of a bother.
Cheers,
Damian
