G'day folk,
Jay (a Perl.org helper) and myself are still hoping to find a *local* Brisbane
PM leader to do the tiny bits of administrivia required to keep a PM group
going. Being a leader isn't supposed to be a big drain on your time, it's
mostly just being a point of contact for the rest of the Brisbane PMers when
perl.org want to contact someone.
You'll have the ability to update the website, do al little bit of list
moderation and might be encouraged by other Brisbane PMers to organise a meeting
every year or so.
If noone feels like they're able to take on this small task, how would you feel
about me taking the position on? I'm all the way down in Melbourne, which has
its own PM group doing quite well, so I'm not very local but I've got a WebDAV
account with perl.org so I will be able to make any requested changes to the
website and Paul or myself visit Brisbane at least once a year so I'm happy to
organise that yearly meeting....
Alternately we can leave things as they are. If I understand correctly, the
current Brisbane PM leader, Gordon Fletcher, is living in Manchester. I believe
he's continued to handle the list-moderation side of being a leader but may not
currently have access to the website.
Perhaps, regardless of who the leader is, all the Brisbane-PMers could have a
look at the Brisbane-PM page Paul has constructed at:
http://perl.net.au/wiki/Brisbane_Perl_Mongers
make any appropriate changes, and then the leader could use that as a new
Brisbane-PM website? Alternately, I'm sure it would be possible for the leader
to get perl.org to map http://brisbane.pm.org to the above URL.
All the very best,
Jacinta
