Vtedy bude aj Vienna.pm robiť Rakúsky Perl Workshop. Tak sa nejako zosynchronizujeme. Zistil som ešte jednu možnosť prenájmu a to v "Slovenský ústav technickej normalizácie". Nemusia to byť žiadne zázraky. --- short english version ;-) Hi, current proposed time for Slovak Perl Workshop is November. We'll be in sync with Vienna.pm and Austria Perl Workshop. Now looking for volunteers to make a presentation or some suggestion for presentation topics. Cheers, Jozef. Other than the Vienna.pm one which we plan to sync with, the other workshops I know of in the autumn are * Italian Perl Workshop and Far East Perl are in September (I'm going to the second of those, and then taking the Trans-Siberian to get back, for some vacation) * BY Perl is in October (in Belarus; I go to this one too and have a few days mini-vacation) plus on the same weekend there is one workshop in the US. * In November (on the 1st), there is probably a Rostov on Don workshop in Russia. But I doubt due to language difference many people would come to workshop in Slovakia from Russia, so I doubt even if we are very close or on same weekend that it's a problem (and I wasn't planning on attending Rostov on Don workshop!) > Now looking for volunteers to make a presentation or some suggestion for > presentation topics. > I think it's best if the talks are in Slovak/Czech language as much as possible. I am happy to talk about Perl 6, Rakudo, Parrot, etc if it's wanted, but I will not be able to present in Slovak language, so would have to give it in English. :-| If it's preferred to have all talks in Slovak and someone wants to present Perl 6 but wants my input in preparing/wants any questions answered, I'm happy to help with that. And I'm happy to help with any organisation work for the workshop too. So if you want to share one or two tips (until Monday morning...), we'd appreciate it! > The castle is pretty and worth a look, and on the hill there are nice views over the old city. If you like castles, you can take a bus out to Devin too, which is another castle that apparently has good views, but I didn't make it there yet. You can walk over the New Bridge and towards the Old Bridge to get a view of the old city from the other side, but generally that side of the river is I think residential, so there's not so much that I know of to do there. The promenade by the river also extends some way west, and if you go just a little way beyond the end of it, continuing by the river, there is quite a nice area by the river that maybe is good for a picnic (I walked this way yesterday and took some photos[1]). The old city center is very nice to walk around and packed with beautiful buildings (I love the main square), but is also an expensive place to eat, so I suggest trying to find something outside the center for food. I haven't many suggestions for this, but if you like pizza, the one by the (aptly named!) Blue Church (on Grosslingova Ulica) serves (IMO) delicious pizzas at OK prices and fairly cheap beer, plus they have a menu in German too. And a warning: the Indian restaurant Ashoka on Zivnostenska (certainly not cheap, but very good) has dishes marked "hot" that really, really are. Even by I'm-a-spicy-food-eating-Brit standards! You're coming to a lovely city! There are flights direct from Moscow to Bratislava, but only on two days a week (Tue/Thu I think), so I guess you'll have to connect somewhere. I connected in Prague recently - the coffee is way expensive the inflatable castle is for kids only, but other than that it was fine. Glad you're coming, anyways! Jonathan
