[Bratislava-pm] [Off Topic] Bratislava Hints

Hi Jonathan,

I'm also an immigrant in Slovakia, Bratislava! I have to admit that my
integration into the society wasn't so difficult since my wife is from
Bratislava.

I know that a good reference and starting point for new comers is the
Slovak Spectator (http://www.spectator.sk/). It's a news paper in
English for foreigners.

The town of Bratislava is quite small when compared with huge towns such
London, Paris or even Montréal (where I come from). Thus, in my opinion
distances are quite small here. As far as I know there are no real
dangerous sections in the city. You should be able to find an
accommodation everywhere in the city, the trick is to find something
close to the center as a lot of shops are near and two big shopping
centers are close by.

Public transport is good and accessible fine, although you might have to
give up on the Spanish way of life and go to bed earlier as trams stop
their routes after 23h00. But this shouldn't too much of a problem as
generally our pubs close around that hour too, at least the pub we visit.

But everything is not so perfect here, for instance we still haven't
found a place for our Perl Mongers meeting. Although, since Vienna is so
close (less than an hour by train) we often go to squat to their monthly
meetings ;-)

Are you're looking for a job here?
