Last night, Lee was wondering about useful resources we know about.
(He works in a Unix-centric environment.)

Since there were several conversations going on at the time, and
not everyone was there, I'm throwing this onto the list.

Here's the stuff *I* use, in more-or-less descending order:

http://groups.google.com./ This one sees at *least* an order of
magnitude more activity from me than all the others.

Mailing lists.

Boulder.pm (Hey, of course)
BLUG http://lug.boulder.co.us/
CO-SAGE http://www.co-sage.org/
FRUUG http://www.fruug.org/
RMIUG http://www.rmiug.org/

Usenet.

Yeah. Well. My .newsrc has 92 active groups in it right now,
and the usual suspects include

  comp.security.unix
  comp.unix.admin
  comp.lang.perl.misc

I won't list the scary devil monastery, because its
a corrupting influence and I don't want to be responsible for
helping develop someone else's bad attitude.

As far as other languages go, we have a good number of devotees here,
and they're welcome to do their own evangelism.

Walter
