From walter at frii.com Fri Dec 3 10:06:13 1999 From: walter at frii.com (Walter Pienciak) Date: Wed Aug 4 23:58:51 2004 Subject: basic Perl/XML question Message-ID: Hi, I'm starting to work more with the XML modules, but I have a pretty basic question. Most of the documents I see come in a jumbled form, like blahblahblah Yukk! And when nothing is formatted for screen width, but runs on for hundreds of characters . . . my poor eyes . . . Is there a straightforward XML/Perl way to get indented formatting, like blah blah blah There are 77 or so XML modules in CPAN now, so brute-force RTFM will take a long time. Personally, my group has had to deal with a catastrophic hardware failure on a high-profile system. 7 AM to 1 AM workdays don't leave me in a mood to be chatty. But Things Are Better Now. And there's that Y2K issue . . . I held off running sunscan on my personal system to the last minute, since new versions kept coming out and I had better things to do. I downloaded/ran it today, and it told me I didn't need to install any patches. I don't know whether to be happy or wary . . . maybe I'll be "cautiously optimistic". Maybe I'll make an extra backup 31 Dec. I'm currently sitting in New Zealand looking across Whangateau Bay waiting for the world to end. I'd like to see the new world re-done in Perl: if ($day eq '1') { SYSTEM('light.exe'); } etc. Did God have to de-bug the universe, or is this the beta release? > > Happy Holidays and all that, > Walter > I know how to respond to that.
