SWT: A Developer's Notebook ------------------------------ Tim Hatton 1st Edition November 2004 ISBN 0-596-00838-4 320 Seiten, EUR 29.00 The Eclipse platform continues to gain tremendous popularity as both a Java IDE and a Java platform for application programming. One of the core underpinnings of Eclipse is SWT, the Standard Widget Toolkit. This set of components can be used to develop graphical user interfaces in Java, and offer a native-code alternative to Java's Swing and AWT components. Incorporating the look and feel of whatever platform the code is run on, SWT offers a lightning-fast approach to building GUIs, all of which actually look like they belong on the platform on which they are run. In typical Developer's Notebook style, you'll learn how to take SWT out for a spin, make it work for you,and turn it upside down, all without wasted words or space. Each lab in this notebook details a specific task; you can read from the first page to the last, look up just what you need to know, and even squeeze this book into your laptop bag as a quick reference when you forget how to create a multi-tabbed view. Use just one recipe from this collection of real-world solutions, and the hours of tedious trial-and-error saved will more pay for the cost of the book. Give your members access to content from Safari's thousands of technology books, right on your site--for free--and raise money for your User Group at the same time. You choose the level of Safari information you want to offer via your site--from placing a banner ad or Safari search box, to posting a book review, to using Safari's web services. If you choose to, your UG earns a fee for each person who signs up for Safari through your site. We've found that some UGs use the program as a fundraiser, while others prefer to opt out of referral fees. (Referral fee available in the US only.) For more information and to sign up for the Safari Affiliate Program, go to: http://ug.oreilly.com/safari_affl.html?CMP=EMC-U1L284871961 Want to see the Safari Affiliate Program in Action?
