Time::Piece(::MySQL) problem

Hello,
I have a problem with Time::Piece(::MySQL) - when it gets a date that is
MySQL's default: ie, a DATETIME field with contents like this:
0000-00-00 00:00:00
then it just barfs. According to the documentation, Time::Piece can only
deal with dates since the epoch. However, since this would appear to be
a common enough thing (to have a DATETIME field with the default value),
does anyone know a way around it?
Thanks!
