I'd recommend "Learning Perl" but that might be a little too
simplistic since you already know how to program.  You might be able
to jump straight to "Programming Perl".

Other good learning books would be:

    "Beginning Perl" by Simon Cozens [2]
    "Elements of Programming Perl" [3]
    "Teach Yourself Perl In 24 Hours" by Clinton Pierce [1]


[1] NOT "Teach Yourself Perl In 21 Days" or in fact any other book by
SAMS.

[2] Can't miss it.  Its big, red and has Simon's grinning mug on the
cover.

[3] Assuming you enjoy reading about Literate Programming.
