Probably the nature of being in the UK - everything gravitates towards london :( On the other hand, we've managed a few meets at devon and cornwall perl mongers and that's a lot more remote than bath ;) btw - anybody else read the scathing article about bath on the sunday observer - can't say I particularly disagreed with it to be honest - not that I've lived near bath for years (I joined the list years ago when I lived in bradford on avon and worked in bristol). cheers, A. -- http://www.aarontrevena.co.uk LAMP System Integration, Development and Hosting From jns at gellyfish.com Wed Sep 19 01:53:05 2007 From: jns at gellyfish.com (Jonathan Stowe) Date: Wed, 19 Sep 2007 09:53:05 +0100 Subject: [Bath-pm] Hi All In-Reply-To: References: <032701c7fa53$52d886a0$0201a8c0@comp1> <307203ff0709182351l6020150l322ff53f63f6871b@mail.gmail.com> Message-ID: <1190191985.6812.11.camel@coriolanus.gellyfish.com> On Wed, 2007-09-19 at 09:44 +0100, Aaron Trevena wrote: > Hi Chris and Lyle, > > There are probably still quite a few lurking members, but most of us > are subscribed to bigger perl monger groups that suck in all the list > traffic, like london.pm. Developed a few applications. To me, in the past it was always about getting the code working, now it's about getting the code working well, or the best possible. I've been re-writing all my software from the ground up, and bumped up my reading with a load of perl books, namely:- Learning Perl Learning Perl on Win32 systems ActivePerl with ASP and ADO Programming Perl Intermediate Perl Advanced Perl programming Mastering Regular expressions Perl best practice (currently reading) Testing Perl Programming the Perl DBI Algorithms with Perl Mastering Perl I've made my first (albeit small) contribution to CPAN:- http://search.cpan.org/~cosmicnet/ And ummm, thought that maybe I should get a bit involved with the community. I've been pestering the PerlMonks for years for code solutions to problems, they rank me as level 8, but my XP is predominately through asking questions, not answering them. http://www.perlmonks.org/?node_id=402839 Been lurking at LMP and Perl5Porters for a few years, but don't really keep up with those lists as they are to fast and I've got enough emails to get through each day for work... I'm guessing you guys have a fair bit more experience than me. Care to fill me in?
