Sounds like you are the right person to get us started. > Does the book go to me or is it shared by Bath.pm ? I've re-read the e-mails I have from Manning's and it doesn't explicitly state who (i.e. Bath.pm or the reviewer) owns the book. Hard copies are "encouraged to be shared", but PDF's are for the reviewer only. I have no problems with the reviewer being the permanent custodian. > Does publishing the review on my blog count or are there a list of > acceptable publishers/locations ? There is no predefined location, but I've agreed in principal that the review would published i) on this list, and ii) on a web site. I don't see any problem with posting a link to your blog, although I think it would be nice if we could start to build up a review section on bath.pm.org. Manning's suggested posting the review on Amazon - I guess this makes most commercial sense for their marketing. I believe your proposals for publishing can be suggested on application of a book. > I would say that this is not a great deal unless the review is around > 200 words or less . Linux format would pay several times the value of > the book as well as giving me the review copy in exchange for 800 > words. No, you won't be getting rich from it :) But it is only a review to be read by few potential book customers and not a technical article. > I'm learning java and would be interested in java books if a better > deal could be brokered. The most interesting to me are A and F. I can give you contact details if you would like to try and get a better deal, but I guess you would have more bargaining power after you have reviewed a book or two. Regards, Andy
