[Bangalore-pm] IRC Umbrella Channel

Hello, India Perl Mongers!

The activity Perl community in India seems to increase every day.  One of the difficulties is the geographic diversity.  Many people have made the very sensible suggestion that an India.pm be formed.  This is not practical, such a large PM is unstable and we've learned the hard way to keep the groups local to cities or small regions.

So, in an effort to bring people together in a similar way, I have created an additional IRC channel: #perl.in

It is on the same network as #bangalore.pm, and so you can easily be in both channels at once.  I've established a page to get to it directly, like the #bangalore.pm page, here: 

http://perlcommunity.org/irc/perl.in/

The connection details for other clients are the same except the channel:

Server:   irc.perl.org
Channel:  #perl.in

The URI is: irc://irc.perl.org/#india.in

Anyone already connected to #bagalore.pm (including via http://perlcommunity.org/irc/bangalore.pm/) can join the new channel using:

/join #india.pm in the edit box where messages are normally typed.

This channel will allow all India perl mongers to talk together, and help with the formation of new PMs.  It's not necessarily a replacement for #bangalore.pm but we'll have to see if people naturally just use the one channel.

If you can join now, it will help Delhi.pm who is trying to repeat the successful Bangalore reboot with their own group.
