You can download the Perl starter package and post it and be ranked all within 15 minutes. :) There have been 63 Perl submissions so far: http://aichallenge.org/language_profile.php?language=Perl But Perl doesn't hold the top 444 spots yet. Please forward to your groups to get more Perl people involved. :) Thanks, Jay Hannah Omaha.pm -- Request pm.org Technical Support via support at pm.org pm_groups mailing list pm_groups at pm.org http://mail.pm.org/mailman/listinfo/pm_groups -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I've been swamped recently. I've already scheduled the next meeting for December 15th! I'd like to have someone volunteer to take an active role in planning the Baltimore PM Events. I'll be relocating to Amsterdam on December 30th. I can still assist with getting the new leadership in touch with potential speakers and other interesting things like sponsors and pizza. Ever wanted to put something cool on your resume? Running a chapter of The Perl Mongers will open doors for you. We may be a small group, but we are a part of the Perl Mongers. You will get out of it what you put in. If you're interested in becoming more involved in the grassroots Baltimore Tech Community, this is a great way to become more connected. Don't be intimidated, if I can do this, believe me, anyone can. I'll be involved as you'd like me to be and is possible from Amsterdam! If you have an interest in seeing this group succeed, please come to the December 15th meeting! -- Brad Lhotsky From brad.lhotsky at gmail.com Wed Nov 23 07:45:40 2011 From: brad.lhotsky at gmail.com (Brad Lhotsky) Date: Wed, 23 Nov 2011 10:45:40 -0500 Subject: [baltimorepm] Fwd: [pm_groups] Mentors and students for English transcription needed In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: If anyone is interested in assisting with the Google Code In. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: "Gabor Szabo" Date: Nov 23, 2011 5:59 AM Subject: [pm_groups] Mentors and students for English transcription needed To: "PM Groups" Hi, this mail is for the English-speaking Perl Monger groups. The GCI - Google Code In - has started 2 days ago. The Perl Foundation participates through the volunteer work of Florian Ragwitz (rafl) and Paul Johnson ( pjcj ). The dead-line for the first round was extended to 27 November and in these 2 days I noticed something missing. I'd like to call for your help. Some of the tasks are translation related such as translating - Mojolicious::Guides::FAQ - The Moose website - OpenWebMail - The GUI of Padre, the Perl IDE - Several screencasts I made and put on YouTube BUT In order to translate the screencasts, first we need the English transcription of the text. That's also good for people who are not comfortable with my accent. Currently there are only 3 screencasts with transcription so the translators cannot proceed. That's where we need your help. We need both students and mentors to do and check the transcriptions. I think we especially need students as nearly any one of the current mentors can check the content. If you think this is a good cause please forward this message to your Perl Monger group and ask them to sign up as mentors or as students. If they are in the right age. Mentors ========= Here is the process for mentors: 1) Sign up as a mentor at http://www.google-melange.com/gci/profile/mentor/google/gci2011 2) Join the #gci channel on irc.perl.org If you don't have an IRC client you can follow this link: http://wbe004.mibbit.com/?autoConnect=true&server=irc.perl.org&channel=%23gci&nick= 3) Talk to Paul Johnson ( pjcj ) or Florian Ragwitz ( rafl ) who can invite you to the TPF program. Let them know you are ready to mentor transcriptions. Students ========= 1) Sign up as a student: I think this is the form: http://www.google-melange.com/gci/profile/student/google/gci2011 2) Join the #gci channel on irc.perl.org If you don't have an IRC client you can follow this link: http://wbe004.mibbit.com/?autoConnect=true&server=irc.perl.org&channel=%23gci&nick= 3) Talk to Paul Johnson ( pjcj ) or Florian Ragwitz ( rafl ) who can direct you further. I think that's it. regards Gabor -- Request pm.org Technical Support via support at pm.org pm_groups mailing list pm_groups at pm.org http://mail.pm.org/mailman/listinfo/pm_groups -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
