Xaviar,

Here is the relevant restriction, note the language "You cannot
incorporate it into a larger logo or make it look like it is part of a
larger graphic":
http://www.pm.org/faq/#camel
Perl Mongers logo

The camel used in association with the Perl language is a trademark
of O'Reilly & Associates. More information: [1] [2]

Perl Mongers groups can use the logo that appears on this page on
their own web page as long as they include the following text
somewhere (able to be clearly seen) on the page:

"The use of the camel image in association with the Perl
language is a trademark of O'Reilly & Associates, Inc. Used with
permission."

Use of the Perl Mongers logo in other media is evaluated on a case by
case basis since Perl Mongers is legally liable for its misuse. Our
license with O'Reilly & Associates requires us to report misuse of the
Camel logo with the Perl Mongers name. Help us not get in trouble. You
can only use the image as you find it. You cannot incorporate it into
a larger logo or make it look like it is part of a larger graphic.
	Perling,

taking the unmodified camel (if we can double check with O'Reilly) and
doing a "Keep Austin.pm" kind of thing on it. I think we can likely
manage this if everyone likes the idea, and we can reach out and

Allan,
Thanks for your brainstorming!
Due to our limited rights as given by O'Reilly via Perl Mongers, we
can't use any camel in any way except the pristine un-modified image
already loaded on our Austin.pm website.

I used my wicked cool design skillz and came up with the attached

Good point Allan, we don't want to use any animals already in the
O'Reilly menagerie, so we shall remove the armadillo from our list!

 Thanks for checking that out.

 That leaves:

 1. Bat (popular Austin animal)
As a class, alas, bat is also OReilly fodder. Sendmail the flying
fox, and Sendmail Cookbook the pippistrelle.

However, since they use different species, surely we could use
another, the Mexican free-tailed bat, the state bat of Texas (and them
Okies). Those are the ones under the Congress bridge during the
warmer months.

Wonder if they have neckbeards... ?
