From wbraswell at hush.com Mon Oct 22 23:24:32 2012 From: wbraswell at hush.com (Will Braswell) Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2012 01:24:32 -0500 Subject: APM: YAPC Meeting This Wednesday, October 24th, SPECIAL TIME 2pm-6pm Message-ID: <20121023062432.9066D6F446@smtp.hushmail.com> Howdy Perl Mongers, Our monthly meeting is this Wednesday, the 24th. Instead of our normal 8:00pm meeting time, we've got a special appointment starting at 2:00pm to tour the (probable) YAPC::NA 2013 venue, Thompson Hall at UT, after which we will select a nearby coffee shop or other location for the 24-hour YAPC hackathon. The tentative not-yet-public dates are June 3 - 7, 2013; please let me know ASAP if there is any problem with these dates. I've been working with Erica Baum and Reini Urban at cPanel to organize the YAPC efforts. Reini is in town this week and will be the cPanel representative present for the Wednesday YAPC planning activities. Our general plan is to meet with the UT people and determine if Thompson Hall is adequate for our needs, then hop around local coffee shops until we find one that is awesome and open 24/7 for the hackathon. Then we will likely finish our meeting over coffee at the chosen hackathon location and discuss additional YAPC ideas and details until approximately 6:00pm, at which time Reini will likely need to leave and I may well turn into a pumpkin(g). :) Please contact me and let me know if you can make it for any part of this meeting, especially you Jeremy! Also, our November meeting will (presumably) be held at the normal time of 8:00pm on Wednesday, 11/28. Do we have anyone willing to present on a Perl-related topic for the November meeting? Do we have any suggestions for a meeting location other than Reale's pizza? (Some people don't like Reale's food and atmosphere.) Perling,~ Will Braswell, Austin.PM Prez PS - The Perl 5 Optimizing Compiler project is moving forward, anyone interested can check out #perl11 on irc.perl.org! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
