APM: Performance question

I have some perl scripts that extract reports from logs created during the
day.  The problem is that scripts are dog slow.

Does anyone have suggestions about how to make these Perl scripts more
efficient.  When I was working with C programs, the compiler was able to
profile the application and identify where the program was spending most of
its time - is there anything like this feature in Perl?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
