All are invited for an evening of intense knowledge-sharing and community - our goal is to introduce a diverse representation of Ann Arbor's talent to each other and to the unconference format, hopefully to inspire other unconferences in the future. Everyone will be a participant engaged in, or leading discussion - no spectators - so please register your interests on the conference wiki page to let others know who might share them! This will be a fast-paced event with the opportunity for an extended night of socializing and geekery. Registration will begin at 6pm, beer will be available at the bar and some complimentary light snacks will be served then as well. If you have requests for a presentation let us know, the planners may be able to find someone to talk about that. If you know that you would like to present, or have questions pelase email me. When you come, be prepared to share with ArbCampers. When you leave, be prepared to share it with the world. So, freshly motivated to get the ball rolling, I want to see if there is a preferred day of the week for regular meetings. Right now, I am thinking Wednesdays, starting on October 20th. I have been experimenting with gearman and perl so I could probably demo something I have running on my laptop. If anyone else wants to demo something, let's do that too! Lastly, I'd like to open up a discussion about what we'd like to do as a group. For my part, I'd like to help promote perl as a learning and a "big projects" platform in the A2 development community, and, more importantly, occasionally have a few beers with fellow geeks! - Jamie From besmit at umich.edu Tue Sep 21 18:23:35 2010 From: besmit at umich.edu (Bryan Smith) Date: Tue, 21 Sep 2010 21:23:35 -0400 Subject: [AnnArbor.pm] Planning a meeting for October In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Wednesdays are the best day for me. I enjoyed your talk on enterprisey Perl development at ArbCamp this year, Jamie, and think this is a useful topic to explore. As a fairly new Perl developer, I would like to spend some energy on topics that help bridge the gap between novitiate to better Perl developer. Throwing this out there to see if anyone else was interested. Not sure on the format, but perhaps very short presentations with a focus on discussion afterwards.
