Seems I've ended up with control for now. I really wish I would have known there was going to be a joint meeting at LW on the 26th I would have come. Benny Crampton says I should post here about some things. I've been considering holding Lansing meetings on the 4rth Tuesday of the month, anyone see that as a problem? Meetings would be on MSU's campus instead of at LW, hopefully that's not a problem for anyone. After consideration I wasn't planning on starting the group until september as the summer months will be the lowest for attendance due to vacations. I understand you guys want to switch off months? someone want to fill me in? any other commentary welcome. -- Caleb Cushing http://xenoterracide.blogspot.com From james.pitts at gmail.com Mon Jun 7 13:54:48 2010 From: james.pitts at gmail.com (James Pitts) Date: Mon, 7 Jun 2010 16:54:48 -0400 Subject: [AnnArbor.pm] lansing.pm Message-ID: Caleb, it's good to see all of the perl-interested folks beading up like mercury! Y, the joint meeting at Liquid Web c/o Benny was cool and I'm sorry that you didn't hear about it. I did a half-talk on a DBIC "enterprisey" architecture I worked on, and Mike Mol talked about obscure languages and demos (tests) on his http://rosettacode.org. I think that alternating makes sense because we can drive to each others' PM meetings. It might also be a good idea to kick up the pace (a meeting in each city each month) if there is a lot of activity... but we still should coordinate schedules. Also, there is the Detroit PM, which is a very strong group. - Jamie From bcrampton at liquidweb.com Mon Jun 7 14:55:30 2010 From: bcrampton at liquidweb.com (benny Crampton) Date: Mon, 7 Jun 2010 17:55:30 -0400 Subject: [AnnArbor.pm] lansing.pm In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <08F65CBA-5724-4ED9-9994-F40FCD5DA49C@liquidweb.com> Caleb, Are you on any lansing or mid-michigan mailing lists? I got an announcement out to the GLUUG list, and to the MSU developers list, but couldn't really find any other local groups that might be interested. Any other groups that might be interested would be awesome to include, when you announce future meetings. -- benny On Jun 7, 2010, at 4:01 PM, Caleb Cushing wrote: > So interesting situation. 2 separate parties creating the Lansing.pm > at the same time. I was planning on messaging gllug although I hadn't done so yet. I'm also aware of several other 'language' user groups that I was considering announcing to once. I don't want to announce to them more than once because that would be spam-ish. Obviously we have our own mailing list if they want to join. -- Caleb Cushing http://xenoterracide.blogspot.com From xenoterracide at gmail.com Mon Jun 7 15:01:43 2010 From: xenoterracide at gmail.com (Caleb Cushing) Date: Mon, 7 Jun 2010 18:01:43 -0400 Subject: [AnnArbor.pm] Fwd: lansing.pm In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: grr... didn't mean to make this private. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: James Pitts Date: Mon, Jun 7, 2010 at 5:29 PM Subject: Re: [AnnArbor.pm] lansing.pm To: Caleb Cushing That is a great idea. Perhaps we could do this with skype (which now allows you to share your screen) or something similar. - Jamie On Mon, Jun 7, 2010 at 5:16 PM, Caleb Cushing wrote: > On Mon, Jun 7, 2010 at 4:54 PM, James Pitts wrote: >> It might also be a good idea to kick up the pace >> (a meeting in each city each month) if there is a lot of activity... >> but we still should coordinate schedules. I can pass along any messages to the GRLUG mailing list you like. I also have a contact or two in the local Ruby and Python groups I can forward things to. Finally, depending on what you guys come up with, I can throw it through planet.rosettacode.org and our Facebook page; I have an interest in multilingual events. -- :wq From tommystanton at gmail.com Tue Jun 29 17:16:22 2010 From: tommystanton at gmail.com (Tommy Stanton) Date: Tue, 29 Jun 2010 17:16:22 -0700 Subject: [AnnArbor.pm] July meeting: to be coordinated by Jamie Pitts Message-ID: Hi Mongers, Sorry that I have been out of the loop. June has been a busy month (after all YAPC::NA 2010 just ended ;), so the next meeting will be in July. Unfortunately, my plans have changed and I am no longer moving to Ann Arbor. :( My friend Jamie Pitts (james.pitts at gmail.com) will be organizing and coordinating the next meeting, as well as maintaining this mailing list and the website resources. Jamie will soon follow-up this e-mail with more details as to when and where the next meeting will be. It was a pleasure meeting all of you. I wish you the best of luck with AnnArbor.pm (...and Detroit.pm...and Lansing.pm too! Thanks for your support~). Sincerely, Tommy
