From oshihuna at gmail.com Sat Nov 15 07:25:22 2014 From: oshihuna at gmail.com (Patrick Cronin) Date: Sat, 15 Nov 2014 10:25:22 -0500 Subject: [albany-pm] Next meeting, and Jeff Thalhammer Message-ID: <7D80CD90-522D-4D1D-88B7-3B9DB7A60382@gmail.com> Mongers, Apologies for the lack of communication recently; I've been out of town with my nose to the grindstone on a project. First, I reached out to Jeff Thalhammer of Perl::Critic fame in response to Will's finding of his blog post inviting groups to invite him. He said he'd be very happy to "meet" us on 26 January! I'll be getting some logistics in place for that meeting, as he would like audience participation, so microphones and video cameras and the like. I'll see what the EG Library has in that regard--but might need guidance in that regard. Also, I did inform him that we're regularly about 5 people, but I thought perhaps this would be a good event to invite others to, due to the level of Jeff's skill level and experiences. Any ideas? Second, our regular schedule for a tech meeting would have us meet around Monday, 24 Nov. I'm able to meet; is anyone else interested? Or the Monday after? Additionally, does anyone have anything they'd like to present? Thanks! -Pat Patrick Cronin Computer Lover Mobile: +1 518 336 5133 Email: oshihuna at gmail.com Skype: patrickcronin12061 P Please consider the environment before printing this e-mail / attachments -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Alas, I'm travelling the beginning of this week, so wouldn't be able to make it. -- Leander From oshihuna at gmail.com Tue Nov 18 12:31:59 2014 From: oshihuna at gmail.com (Patrick Cronin) Date: Tue, 18 Nov 2014 15:31:59 -0500 Subject: [albany-pm] Next meeting, and Jeff Thalhammer In-Reply-To: References: <7D80CD90-522D-4D1D-88B7-3B9DB7A60382@gmail.com> Message-ID: <85D45BA7-1A96-459B-B8D2-89BDEA8CC965@gmail.com> Mongers, 1. Please take note that I've reserved the large "Multipurpose" room at the EG Library for Jeff Thalhammer's talk, as it has speakers and a ceiling-mounted projector. There's space for many people in that room! Please feel free to invite anyone who is interested in coding! (Still working on whether we'll need a microphone for questions--does anyone have previous experience with A/V for presentations on a larger scale like this?) 2. Jeff is the author of Perl::Critic and Pinto, and co-founder of Stratopan. He'll be talking to us on January 26, 2015 about static analysis of Perl code using Perl::Critic. As we saw at the beginning of the year from Leander's presentation, static analysis provides a qualitative consideration of code quite different from just syntax errors or whether it compiles, and is relevant to any programming language. 3. I'll be compiling a list of questions to send to Jeff before the presentation. If you have anything in particular you'd like Jeff to touch on, or answer specifically, please send it over to me. (Deadline: 12 January 2015 please). -Pat Patrick Cronin Computer Lover Mobile: +1 518 336 5133 Email: oshihuna at gmail.com Skype: patrickcronin12061 P Please consider the environment before printing this e-mail / attachments On 18 Nov 2014, at 12:55 PM, Leander Hasty wrote: > On Sat, Nov 15, 2014 at 10:25 AM, Patrick Cronin wrote: >> Jeff Thalhammer [...] happy to "meet" us on 26 January! > > I've made a note in my planner, will look forward to this. =) > >> Second, our regular schedule for a tech meeting would have us meet around Monday, 24 Nov. > > Alas, I'm travelling the beginning of this week, so wouldn't be able to make it. > > -- > Leander -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
