Here's a list of random talk topics I can give one of at the next tech meeting: a) Testing the CPAN way The structure of Perl tests on CPAN; TAP; Test::More and friends; Interesting Testing modules on the CPAN. Writing (and testing) your own test module. b) Exceptional Exceptions How Perl handles exceptions, including gotchas on early Perl. Exception frameworks and additional syntax. Talk about my "err" module to quickly define exception hierarchies. c) I \x{2665} Perl \x{ff06} UTF-8 Everything you wanted to know about UTF-8 with Perl but were afraid to ask. All 20 minutes long. If anyone has a favorite, let me know. Mark. I'd love to see any of these. The one I feel least familiar with is exceptions, though, so if you've need of a tie-breaker, that'd be the one I would pick. -- Leander From mark at twoshortplanks.com Thu Feb 13 09:51:26 2014 From: mark at twoshortplanks.com (Mark Fowler) Date: Thu, 13 Feb 2014 12:51:26 -0500 Subject: [albany-pm] YAPC::NA::2014 CFP Deadline midnight sunday morning Message-ID: Hello Perl Mongers, I thought I might point out that the call for speakers for YAPC::NA::2014 (Orlando Florida, 2014-06-23 - 2014-06-25) is closing at midnight (technically 2014-02-16T04:59:00Z ) if anyone was intending to submit a talk. http://www.yapcna.org/yn2014/call_for_speakers.html I'm planning to submit the talk I gave at our last technical meeting.
