[albany-pm] Regular-izing idea sharing?

Albany mongers,

I have no idea what the history of this group has been, so I realize I might be speaking out of turn or place, but I'd like to see this group do more. Out of all the languages I've used, perl is my favorite for its elegance, potential density, power, and sheer multitude of capable freely available modules. Even though I've been programming in perl for over 10 years, I can still find things that surprise me. Most recently, I found Rose::DB and anonymous closures, both of which enable a conceptual change for the better in the way you can approach problems.

I'd like to meet with like-minded people on a monthly basis to share these surprises. I think its more fun to learn about things if you do it as a group. I'm talking presentations here people. I'm talking a projector and some preparation. Something to really make attendance worthwhile. I would propose a meeting to be made up of 3 twenty-minute sessions, and that we take turns.

Comments for or against? Suggestions?

-Pat
