The mailman installation is hosted on the pm.org system, you can manage your subscription at http://mail.pm.org/mailman/listinfo/adelaide-pm I'll continue to archive on the http://adelaide.pm.org web site as well. Just for posterity and continuity :-) Please note the new posting address, in the footer of this email. If you're interested in why I switched MLM's after just 3 messages, read on.... I've used ecartis for years. Although it hasn't been actively developed for a while, I considered that more to do with it's complete feature set and stability. No clunky web interface, just rock-solid mailing list handling, with all administration done via email (the way it should be, IMHO). I still host several lists on ecartis, and will probably continue to do so. However a show-stopper bug appeared in relation to setting up the adelaide.pm list, which prevented quoted printable handing from working correctly while the options to strip attachments were also turned on. You may have noticed the appended equals signs on the first couple of emails. Ugly. At any rate, thanks to the good graces of the pm.org folks, we have a working mailing list, with a nice address, which I don't have to worry about administering :-) Thanks for listening! - Justin P.S. yes, mailman is written in python. There are so many good mail modules on CPAN, I feel like writing the spiritual successor to ecartis in perl.... -- Justin Hawkins justin at hawkins.id.au From justin at hawkins.id.au Tue Nov 24 21:52:37 2009 From: justin at hawkins.id.au (Justin Hawkins) Date: Wed, 25 Nov 2009 16:22:37 +1030 Subject: [adelaide.pm] Intro In-Reply-To: <4B05F44D.5040908@adelaide.edu.au> References: <4B05F44D.5040908@adelaide.edu.au> Message-ID: On 20/11/2009, at 12:13 PM, Andrew Kirkpatrick wrote: > I'm a big fan of the ::Tiny modules, dependencies suck! I know the core targets are very different, in terms of dependencies, wondering if you had any insight on the respective qualities of the two. I like the idea of a modern, dependancy free 'step up' from CGI.pm - Justin -- Justin Hawkins justin at hawkins.id.au From andrew.kirkpatrick at adelaide.edu.au Thu Nov 26 14:59:44 2009 From: andrew.kirkpatrick at adelaide.edu.au (Andrew Kirkpatrick) Date: Fri, 27 Nov 2009 09:29:44 +1030 Subject: [adelaide.pm] Intro In-Reply-To: References: <4B05F44D.5040908@adelaide.edu.au> Message-ID: <1259276384.4b0f086086261@webmail.adelaide.edu.au> Quoting Justin Hawkins : > Have you used Catalyst at all? Hi Justin, I've only done tinkering around the edges with catalyst, a few experiments of my own and fixing someone else's app. All I can say is Mojo leaves a whole lot more up to you, but sometimes that's just what you want. Cheers, Andy
