I also went to the zoo (twice), an indoor waterpark, played cards almost every day, ran with my wife, ran with the dog, ran with the kids, ran with my lonesome... and then I ate more pie. Oh, and it was 1200 miles each way, with nothing to keep me company in the wee hours but 4 people and a dog sawing logs, a bit of wakey-wakey medcine, fudge with walnuts, chex party mix, ham sandwiches, and... well, I was out of pie by that point. Why is vacation always about food? Ah, yes, the point of this email. I coded... two tests. So I've got nothing to present at our next meeting, except maybe I could show off this new layer of what I presume to be pie that has wrapped itself around my muscles. :-/ prl From rjbs-perl-abe at lists.manxome.org Fri Jun 4 02:41:41 2004 From: rjbs-perl-abe at lists.manxome.org (Ricardo SIGNES) Date: Mon Aug 2 21:22:50 2004 Subject: [ABE.pm] YAPC rides In-Reply-To: <40BFAD89.7070305@five-lawrences.com> References: <20040517092139.H23850@manxome.org> <40BFAD89.7070305@five-lawrences.com> Message-ID: <20040604034141.J12201@manxome.org> * Phil Lawrence [2004-06-03T19:00:25] > So far we have Steve Lidie, rjbs, and myself riding up together. They have a usually tasty (for fast food) Bacon Double Cheeseburger XL here in the UK. It's immense. Like, 4-5 inches across the patty. Man, I'm hungry. Actually, the meeting would be NEXT Monday. Today is the FIRST Monday. ;) I had been meaning to say, though, in light of YAPC, I think a meeting next Monday might be superfluous. Phil, did you get my reply to your earlier ride-plan email? What's everyone planning to do at YAPC? Steve's got a great Honda Accord, and there's room for -- SHOTGUN! Sorry, just had to get that out of the way. Anyway, there's room for rjbs and Bryan. Did I mention the open space is IN THE BACK? Ahem. I went ahead and signed the four of us up for the arrival dinner. I know Steve's in, but hadn't discussed this with rjbs or Bryan. (BTW, Bryan who? pic?) We're supposed to meet at 6:30PM in the hotel lobby for caravanning over to dinner, and pre-registration before that time is encouraged. So arrival by 5 or so would work well. That puts us at a departure time somewhere in the 10:00 hour. The question is, do we try for a late lunch, and snack around it, or do we make like nice little hobbits and hit 2 lunches, one as soon as BK puts away the breakfast junk and gets its meat on, and then again in the afternoon? Anything works for me. Two stops might be good, or possibly a breakfast, then travel with lunch stuck in the middle. That might be easiest. Breakfast around 0900 or 0930, then departure, lunch around 1200 or 1300... anyway, I'm easy. > Oh, and is everybody confirmed for a Friday night in the Hotel? Yecch, definitely not. bda will be bussing up to ABE on Monday and enjoy a night on the trusty old air mattress. If you'd like to eat breakfast before hitting the road, we could meet up at a breakfast place. My favorites are Waffle House (on Airport Rd), Billy's (on Broad St. near New St.), or anywhere else really. (Sadly, Hack's is closed on Mondays.) And if you're McD/BK-festing your way up through New York, we could always start with a McGriddle or Crossanwich. If you want to get going straight away, I can show up anywhere convenient. Lehigh seems an obvious choice just because we all know where it is, but if it's out of everyone's way... Basically: I'm just the passenger and will show up whereever you want. (Well, if you say "at the University Inn," I'll be miffed.) Bryan will follow me. What's your fancy? -- rjbs -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
